All students will have an assessment on listening / speaking / writing / comprehension to ascertain what level is appropriate for them and which books is appropriate to commence study from. I will use books suchas Kitab al Baghdady / first 100 pages of Kitab Al Assasi and then progress them onto further levels.

Lesson will focus on listening / writing / speaking / test with homework for consolidating what was learnt in lessons

PC linked Whiteboard would be good if available / otherwise use normal whiteboard

Report on progress for all students after completing Levels

Certificate issued on completion of book / level.

Summer Programme – 5 d/w – 5hr/d plus 2 day tour outside the centre to practice language

Level 0

At this level, the student does not know how to
read or write, or is limited

Books covered:

Kitab al Baghdadi
Al-Kitāb al-Asāsī (first 100 pages)

Aims:

The student has now learnt how to read and write independently.
They are able to converse about the following topics:
Themselves, Their friends and Their country

Level 1

In this level, concentration is placed on conversational skills and the construction of sentences.

Aims:

The student will be proficient with and familiarise themselves
with the following topics:

Conversing about themselves and their interests
Their families, Their daily lives, Their studies, Food and drink, Prayer and Work

Level 2

At this level, the student does not know how to
read or write, or is limited

Books covered:

Al-Kitāb Al-Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk (level 2)

Aims:

The student will now be able to use the past, present, and command tenses and will be able to decipher when to use each one in a particular sentence. The students will also begin to learn about the science of morphology.

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics: Shopping, The weather, Different people and places, Hobbies, Travel, Hajj and Ummrah, Health and Holidays

Level 3

At this stage they will learn the linguistic tool of negation as well how to construct a verbal sentence and other basic grammatical rules. They will begin to use connectives in their sentences.

Aims:

The student will be more comfortable and able to confidently converse about a variety of new topics.

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics: Healthcare, Relaxation, Married life, life in the city

Level 4

In this level, students will focus on grammar and comprehension. They will learn phrases of ownership, differing forms of negation, and some overarching grammar rules, such as “kāna and her sisters”.

Aims:

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics: Knowledge and learning, Education, Different professions, The Arabic language, Competitions and prizes

Level 5

Students will begin to implement the fixed verbs in both the past and command tenses. They will also learn about different types of plurals, such as the “broken” plural, and the pair.

Aims:

Level 6

Students will study different types of verb endings, use of adjectives, and familiarisation with words pertaining to time (before, after, morning, evening) and place (above, below, in front, behind).

Aims:

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics:

Level 7

Students will solidify their knowledge of “kāna” and her sisters. They will also study conditional sentences and sentences beginning with nouns.

Aims:

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics:
Language, The Miracle of the Quran, A day in the life of a Muslim, Challenges facing minorities and The Prophetic Sunnah

Level 8

Students will move towards more complicated grammatical rules, such as the groups of words that are “forbidden from sarf” and “thanna and her sisters”

Aims:

They will also be proficient with and familiarise themselves with the following topics:
Child’s reading, Immigration in pursuit of profession, Arabic tales

Level 9

Students will now move towards the science of rhetoric, taking a look at metaphors, similes, and exaggerations. They will also familiarise themselves with root words.

Level 10

Students will learn about the different types of madd (elongation) and their differing forms alongside a variety of different grammatical rules.
